ActionAID is a technical and financial support to help national NGOs and communities to develop their capacities to respond to HIV/AIDS, promoting the participation and the leadership of HIV+ people and the use of participative methodologies which take into account the questions of gender, power, culture, and poverty as factors which have an influence on the impact of HIV in the community. ActionAID also does development work with women and children to alleviate poverty.

African Centre for Gender and Development (ACGD) is a division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). Established in 1975, the ACGD is the regional structure that deals with gender issues and the advancement of women within the United Nations system in Africa. In this capacity, it works in conjunction with national, sub-regional and regional structures engaged in the advancement of women and gender equality.

ENDA - Synergy and Development is conducting activities that benefit women by promoting gender equity, peace, and sustainable development. In 1995, SYNFEV launched the "Communication for Women" program, primarily aimed at Francophone African women. The initial phase (1995-1997) of this program was devoted to the creation of the femmes-afrique network. The second phase (1998-2000), "Francophone African women are active in the cyberspace," focused on training, network diversification, and partnerships building. The current phase (2001-2003) aims to consolidate previous actions and deepen research and discussions on the dynamic relations between "Gender, Communication, and Diversity".

Flame: African Sisters Online was a project that ran from July 1999 - June 2000 and provided women and women's NGOs in Africa with information about the Dakar and Beijing Platforms for Action assessment process in Africa, information about the UN and regional process, NGOs input, and linkages with other regional review processes. The Flame Project was a joint initiative of APC-Africa-Women and FEMNET. This Website is now a valuable archive but is no longer updated. There are also links to information on the Beijing+10 process and to the debates.
